Montreal, March 28, 2013 – It is with great pride that Jazz singer and pianist Anne Bisson launches Blue Mind, her first opus as singer‐songwriter, Tuesday, April 16, at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the Upstairs Jazz Club. This album, which was initially issued in 2009, is now being released for the second time. After a successful and varied career that lasted more than 20 years, Anne Bisson returned to her first love ‐ Jazz ‐ with a very personal CD of her own musical creations Blue Mind (2009), in which she was accompanied by Normand Guilbeault on the Bass and Paul Brochu on Drums. Critics were unanimous: Anne Bisson was made for Jazz. And the success of Blue Mind hasn’t faded over the years. With more than 5000 CDs and 2500 vinyl records sold, music lovers have not only been praising the beauty of the compositions, but also the exceptional acoustic quality of the album. Due to a constantly growing demand, Anne Bisson now relaunches her first album in an exclusive Deluxe edition, which includes a collectors’ booklet containing the lyrics. And with what amounts to perfect timing, she will be distributed by Universal Music and Digital Believe France. These prestigious companies’ expertise in world‐wide record distribution will make Anne Bisson’s name and music resound in every corner of the globe.

Why is it so

Anne Bisson has many facets to her art. She first became known as a charming and charismatic television personality, but in recent years she has been concentrating on music, her first love. A pianist since childhood, she won the prestigious Étoiles Du Maurier competition in 1984 where she performed two of her original compositions. Two years later, she shone in the role of Cristal in a new version of the popular rock opera Starmania, which was produced especially for the Festival d’Été de Lanaudière in Quebec. We have rarely seen an artist perform jazz while accompanying herself with such ease on a stage! Her colourful personality, infectious energy, and evident love of music, combined with her delightful anecdotes about life’s strange twists and turns, make each of Anne Bisson’s shows a memorably unique experience.
